—————— IFRA DCX Press Release June 14th, 2018 ————————–

IFRA World Publishing Expo
DCX Digital Content Expo

47th meeting of the global publishing community
9-11 October 2018, Messe Berlin

PRESS RELEASE

IFRA and DCX 2018, No. 4, Frankfurt am Main, 13 June 2018

DCX launches new “Content Services” exhibition area: Manage the flood of information automatically, safely and in conformity with the law

  • DCX Expo is expanding its offering: With the new “Content Services” area, the exhibition, in addition to media companies and news publishers, addresses also content marketing agencies, content management providers as well as decision-makers from the technology departments of companies in other industries
  • Partners are the heads of the leading XING groups on topics concerning content and information management as well as publishers, media & publishing, Dr. Ulrich Kampffmeyer, Nico Rehmann and Johannes F. Woll

The DCX Digital Content Expo is expanding its portfolio: For the first time the exhibition, that will take place from 9 to 11 October in Berlin, will include an area dedicated to “Content Services” that will also have its own stage. This term is used to describe solutions and services that companies can use to manage the growing flood of information in a way that is automated, safe and in conformity with the law.

Legislation such as the GDPR and other compliance regulations are at present among the greatest challenges facing businesses. There is an increasing urgency to safely manage electronic contents. It is not just publishing companies and news publishers that are concerned, but organisations operating in all branches of industry that produce, receive, evaluate, use, store and archive electronic information.

A new exhibition area at the DCX Digital Content Expo brings together all products and services for managing the growing flood of information. In addition, in order to underpin the exhibitors‘ offerings for this sector, information on trends in content services will be presented in lectures presented on a special stage.

The exhibition organisers are pleased to announce that they have succeeded in securing high-profile experts as partners for the launch into this new area, in particular Dr. Ulrich Kampffmeyer of PROJECT CONSULT who has already developed the topic of information management for exhibitions such as “DMS Expo” and “IT & Business” as well as for industry associations. Nico Rehmann, Head of the XING Ambassador Group „Content Management“ and Director of asioso GmbH, as well as Johannes F. Woll, responsible for the XING Ambassador Groups „Media & Publishing“ and „Publishing and Media“ and Director of Social Event GmbH, will broaden the programme by including topics for media makers, such as new business models, omni-channel, mobile, smart data or the interconnection of various software systems.

From content administration and Big Data to Artificial Intelligence

The Gartner research and advisory company sees new developments in the market for information management solutions: According to this company, content services serve as platforms for applications and components for the management of structured and unstructured information. Modern technologies such as Big Data, Blockchain, Analytics, Mobile, Cloud and Artficial Intelligence, are expanding existing approaches towards document, enterprise content and information management. This also includes traditional areas such as scanning, archiving, electronic files, workflow and records management.

Content services are at the same time service offerings for the preparation, publication and recording of digital content, independent of whether on public websites, intranets or E-Commerce platforms. This part of the content services industry offers support in the design, production and distribution of contents. But software and systems are also increasingly coming under the service heading. The suitable service offering for customer portals, processing invoices, signing, converting, publishing and storing builds the bridge between existing in-house solutions and cloud offerings as well as external, outsourced content services applications.

The new exhibition area is aimed especially at Managing Directors and CEOs, CIOs, IT managers, Organisation Managers, Records Managers, Auditors and persons working in legal departments as well as suppliers of solutions and systems who are seeking partners for a services-oriented concept for customer solutions.

DCX: A new home for content services

The visibility of content services, the offering for document management and enterprise content management suffered in the last years from the fact that there no longer existed any joint exhibition and congress event in the industry. DCX in Berlin now has the opportunity to build up a new information channel to users and suppliers. The exhibition offering for news and content technology is an ideal starting point for this”, is how Dr. Kampffmeyer of the PROJECT CONSULT corporate consulting company describes his reason for cooperating with DCX.

Vincent Peyrègne, CEO of WAN-IFRA, adds: “Managing the constantly growing volumes of information in an automatic, safe and lawful way is an important topic for publishing companies that are dealing increasingly with major volumes of data. This concerns topics such as compliance, storing of electronic media such as photos and videos or the modular design of contents for various channels. But also all other publishers and industrial companies will benefit from this expansion of the range of topics covered by our exhibition.”

More information and tickets at www.ifra-dcx.com.

Various content services are important for publishers:

  • Solutions for compliance, information processing, knowledge management, rights management, storage of commercial documents
  • Solutions for information processing, such as automatic translation, abstracting, format processing for electronic media, modularising content for different channels, multi-channel information distribution
  • Solutions with partners and the public to provide contents, joint work on contents, review and peer review process platforms, discussion platforms

Information Management – Time for a New, Intelligent Approach
Abstract „A new approach is needed to address today’s information management challenges and content chaos. Traditional enterprise content management (ECM) systems focused on a single, central system. In the future, it’s more about allowing people to intelligently access information when they need it, how they need it, from any device, no matter where it’s stored. AI helps to automate and simplify daily tasks and free people up to focus on what’s most important.“
Agenda „(1) Organizations are struggling to keep up with the Traditional approaches aren’t working – too many silos and too little user adoption | (2) Another „repository“ isn’t the answer | (3) Information is „everywhere“ — and that’s not necessarily a bad thing | (4) Unifying information by context and relevance – what is needed, when it’s needed“
Message „How information is managed, i.e., organized, secured, processed, etc., impacts almost everything a business does. Managing information management intelligently is key to creating competitive advantage, this presentation will discuss what that means.

Experience how a modern Enterprise Information Management Framework will help you to achieve these goals while minimizing the risks. We will present you hints, obstacles and possibilities how on premise and cloud technologies are combined to achieve your “personalized” cloud concept.
Agenda „(1) How our current and future employees will affect our strategy | (2) Where our current IT Technology came from and what happened to the visions of the years | (3) Who to answer the question of future technology today without making serious failures
Message „Find out where we all came from (technology and organization wise) and get some solid advice how to master the questions of the future, even if you don’t know them yet“

Content Processes in the Era of Artificial Intelligence
Abstract „The way the world manages and accesses knowledge is on the verge of fundamental change. AI is already being used to enable smarter search, but this is part of the old paradigm. The new era will be dramatically different than most people imagine, and the shift has already begun. Attend this presentation to get answers to these important questions.
Agenda “ (1) How will knowledge be authored, managed, and accessed in the future? | (2) What issues do I need to consider to ensure technologies we select today don’t keep us trapped in the past? | (3) Which business processes should I view as offering the greatest potential with regard to taking advantage of what is to come? | (4) Can I believe all of this? (Yes. Live demonstrations of deployed production solutions will be presented.)
Message „This presentation represents a unique opportunity to develop an understanding of the impact AI will have on content processes and the strategic decisions that will need to be made to ensure business agility.

    Content Services

DCXexpo PRESS RELEASE Oct. 19, 2018

    Content Services

DCX presents international trends in information management

    • On the second exhibition day of the DCX Digital Content Expo, information management experts will show in a new focal area how intelligent content management can be the key to success for companies.

Many companies are in the grip of “information chaos”: Much content is produced, stored and distributed at different locations. With the new “Content Services” focal area, DCX Digital Content Expo bundles technical trends and discussions on this topic, as these developments are highly relevant to the success especially of companies that base their business on high-quality content.

Information management is at present undergoing a transformation. “Since 20 years Enterprise Content Management (ECM) has been the message of industry and analysts. The rapid innovations in IT and communication technology are now changing the scene. Will Enterprise Information Management, Intelligent Information Management, Digital Workplace or Content Services be the banner of the industry?”, asks Dr. Ulrich Kampffmeyer, Managing Director of PROJECT CONSULT Unternehmensberatung GmbH, in the announcement of his keynote lecture that he will give on the new DCX Content Services and Content Marketing stage. On Wednesday, 10 October 2018, as co-initiator of the new exhibition area, he will launch the programme focus topic with an overview of the history, current status and important changes in this sector. In addition, he has succeeded in bringing international luminaries in this field to the exhibition for digital content in Berlin.

    Time for new, intelligent approaches

Greg Milliken, Senior Vice President of Marketing at M-Files, in his lecture will further develop this topic introduced as a common thread running through the programme by Kampffmeyer: Conventional Enterprise Content Management systems that concentrate on a single, central system are outmoded. The future will belong to technology permitting users to access information from any device – when they need it, how they need it, no matter where the information is stored. “Artificial Intelligence helps to automate and simplify daily tasks, giving users the possibility to concentrate on what is really important”, says Milliken. In his presentation he will show how intelligent information management can provide a competitive edge.

In his lecture, Richard Reed, VP Research and Development of Theum AG, will focus on the possibilities and operating methods of AI in this area and explain how it can be used to enhance business agility. Another guest on the stage will be Dr. Olaf Holst, Chief Technology Evangelist at Optimal Systems. He will describe strategies for migrating existing solutions from on-premise to cloud or hybrid cloud scenarios. “How businesses can digitise customer processes” is the chosen topic of Dieter Weißhaar, CEO of Easy Software AG. Taking the example of after-sales processes “in the field”, he will show agile ways to achieve a successful transformation.

The future of information management offers much material for discussion

To conclude the programme of the second exhibition day, decision-makers from the technology departments of publishing houses as well as other companies for which content is a central success factor are invited to participate in a podium discussion: acronyms and technical terms dominate the industry in relation to information management. Which trends are the ones to watch? Dr. Kampffmeyer will nail down the panellists to clear statements. Morad Rhlid, Managing Director of SER Solutions International, and Dr. Hanns Köhler-Krüner, Managing Vice President Content Insight & Legal of Gartner Deutschland GmbH, will discuss with the previous lecturers.

“With the new focus we wish to highlight how the topic is developing further under the term ‚Content Services’”, says Dr. Ulrich Kampffmeyer. “We need to build a bridge between more traditional ECM and the concept of content services that do not stop at simple content administration. Digitisation and automation, steering creative production and distribution towards content marketing, the bringing together of all persons involved in the companies, will be topics for discussion – no more and no less”, says Dr. Ulrich Kampffmeyer.

This years DCXexpo & IFRAexpo counted nearly 6000 visits from exhibitors and visitors. This year more people where interested in the DCX part of the event than last years. DCXexpo and IFRAexpo are moving into the digital arena, as the awards given at the evening event showed as well.
The Content Services Stage plans to return at next years IFRAexpo/DCXexpo, again in Berlin. We are working on a concept to invite more vendors from the content services (ECM, workplace 4.0, EIM, IIM …), content generation & distribution, and content marketing space. Exhibitors will have the optional possibility to present on the Content Services Stage, join a panel or run a video interview. XING and its XING Ambassador communities with focus on content management, New Work, media and others will be organising the Content Services Stage and possibly a lounge area with exhibits. We hope to be able to involve as well associations like AIIM, ARMA, BITKOM, VOI, Doxnet, DGI and others.
